Grounding Practice: Connecting to the Earth

Writer's picture: Anastasia Anastasia

Over time, people interact less and less with nature and the earth. Our ancestors walked barefoot and slept on the ground. Today we wear shoes and sleep in beds. Those of us who live in cities are very disconnected from nature in our daily life.

How can we reconnect with nature, energize, and improve our well-being? A wonderful meditation practice called grounding will help us. Research from the National Institutes of Health shows that regular grounding practice can improve sleep and reduce stress. Research confirms that grounding is an important element in improving our overall health and well-being.

Grounding is an ancient practice that involves connecting your body, mind, and spirit to the Earth. You can practice grounding by standing barefoot or lying on the grass - anything that allows your body to touch the ground. You can also practice this at home while standing barefoot on the floor.

Grounding practice:

- Stand with your feet touching a bare surface. Breathe in, calm your emotions, and feel connected to the Earth and its energies.

- Feel your feet sinking into the Earth and grounding like the roots of a tree.

- Stay here for a while and concentrate on your breathing. Feel how with each exhalation negative energy leaves your body into the Earth, and with each inhalation, you receive healing energy from the Earth.

- End the practice by expressing gratitude to the Earth.

Be healthy and be happy!
